PETER L. MATTEI

Peter joined the Science IP team as a Senior Searcher in November 2007. Prior to joining CAS, he worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb in their Information and Knowledge Integration group where he supported R&D by providing patent and scientific information in the areas of chemistry and pharmaceuticals. Peter has over 15 years of experience in searching and supporting scientific and chemical information within the pharmaceutical industry.

Upon obtaining a MS degree in Organic Chemistry from Temple University, Peter worked as a synthetic chemist at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, then took a position as a process chemist at Sybron Chemicals. When offered a position with the pharmaceuticals division of the DuPont company in 1984, he resumed organic synthesis in medicinal chemistry and worked on the discovery of new central nervous system agents.

Peter has taught various chemistry courses as an adjunct professor for over 20 years and, aside from his love of teaching, this activity provides some opportunities for a little 'hands on' chemistry.

Peter has been a member of the American Chemical Society for 24 years (Chemical Information Division and local section) and is also a member of the Patent Information Users Group (PIUG).
