ELAINE CHEESEMAN

Elaine joined the Science IP team in January, 2007. She has many years of experience in searching chemical and biomedical patents and literature; and pharmaceutical competitor information.

Elaine has a Ph.D. degree from the City University of New York in synthetic organic chemistry and did postdoctoral research at Temple University. She worked at GlaxoSmithKline for over 15 years in the Information Management department. She did extensive chemical prior art searching and analysis; working closely with program team leaders, scientists, and patent attorneys based both in the US and abroad. Also as a member of the Search Desk staff, she performed searches of any kind as requested by the scientists and managers; often of a chemical or biomedical nature. Elaine was also involved in evaluating, implementing, and training on desktop information products for both the information staff and/or scientists.

Elaine is a member of the Patent Information Users Group (PIUG) and a regular attendee of the PIUG annual meetings. She is also a longtime member of the American Chemical Society (Chemical Information Division and local section).
